2012 Suzuki KingQuad 750AXi Power Steering Review

The 2012 Suzuki KingQuad 750AXi Power Steering is engineered to tackle the toughest jobs and nastiest trails without breaking a sweat. It’s loaded with technologically advanced features for impressive all-around performance: its advanced power steering provides lighter steering and more responsive handling; the fuel-injected 722cc engine, housed inside the high-tensile steel frame, develops abundant torque (especially in the low- to mid-rpm range), which gives the 750AXi Power Steering exceptional performance. Independent rear suspension, a locking front differential and a host of other valuable features place the KingQuad 750AXi Power Steering at the front of the pack.

New for 2012: Flame Red, Solid Black, and Terra Green; black rims (on Flame Red and Terra Green); silver rims (on Black)

Tough as Nails

The flagship KingQuad 750 with Power Steering is designed to be not only the best all-around sport/utility ATV currently made, but the best ATV Suzuki has ever manufactured.

The electric Power Steering system offers lighter steering in a variety of conditions with less rider fatigue, perfect for farmers who spend a large amount of time on their ATV.

The KingQuad 750 is powered by a single-cylinder liquid-cooled DOHC engine with a bore-and-stroke of 104mm x 85mm - displacing 722cc. The big bore helps this four-stroke develop abundant torque, especially in the low- to mid-rpm range. The fuel-air mixture is delivered efficiently via Suzuki's own fuel-injection system, featuring technology tested through years of development in high-performance motorcycles.

Advantages of the KingQuad 750's fuel injection system include reduced fuel consumption overall. Also, there are no choke operations or carburetor settings to consider. Electronic fuel injection provides better throttle response and smoother engine power than a mechanical carburetor. Finally, the KingQuad 750 has the ultimate power-delivery drivetrain and transmission with three drive modes available: two-wheel drive, four-wheel drive, and front differential-locked four-wheel drive.

Built around an all-new high-tensile steel frame, the KingQuad's suspension is fully independent. It's designed to maintain the necessary rigidity of a hard-working utility ATV as well as the light weight of an easily manageable recreational four-wheeler. New front and rear brake systems help smoothly slow the KingQuad 750 - the front end features hydraulic brakes with 200mm discs at each wheel and a 34mm caliper piston housed in rigid caliper to ensure firm and reliable braking. The KingQuad 750 rides on newly designed, 25-inch, bias-ply Dunlop tires mounted on pressed-aluminum-alloy wheels.

With its high-arched fenders and sharp headlights, the Suzuki KingQuad 750 with Power Steering combines sporty appeal with utility strength.

2012 Can-Am Outlander MAX 650 Review

The 60-hp Outlander MAX 650 is the most powerful ATV in its class. Featuring a Convertible Rack/Seat System (CRS) that lets you go from one-up to two-up in less than 30 seconds. Along with two-up features like a comfortable raised seat, sturdy ergonomic passenger handgrips and raised floorboards. Factor in its cast-aluminum wheels and you have a quad that’s only missing one thing: a trail.

Two-up capability with industry-leading Can-Am power across every category. From the 71-hp Rotax 800R to the 32-hp Rotax 400. Switch from one-up to two-up in seconds thanks to the unmatched versatility of the Convertible Rack/Seat System (CRS). The passenger rides in front of the rear axle, giving the driver more stability and consistent handling. Plus, there’s a host of ergonomic, passenger-focused features. And on solo rides, there’s loads of storage. Alone or with a passenger, the only question that will come up is, “Can we stay out here a little longer?”

2012 Can-Am Outlander MAX 650 Key Features

- 60-hp Rotax 650 EFI engine
- Torsional Trailing arm Independent rear suspension (TTI)
- Double A-arm front suspension
- Visco-Lok† auto-locking front differential
- Ergonomic passenger seat and backrest
- Convertible Rack/Seat System with storage box

2012 Can-Am Outlander MAX 650 Features and Benefits

60-hp Rotax 650 V-Twin, liquid-cooled EFI engine

This 60-hp, 80ยบ V-Twin engine is the most powerful engine below 800 cc. The liquid-cooled, single overhead cam power plant has four valves per cylinder, a 46-mm throttle body and two VDO Siemens‡ fuel injectors. The EFI automatically keeps the engine’s performance at its peak, regardless of temperature or altitude. Progressive throttle ensures power is manageable whether in precise rock crawling or on the straights.

Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) with engine braking

For ease of use, you can count on the CVT transmission that features engine braking to help slow you when going downhill.

Double A-arm front suspension

The front suspension geometry provides light steering on the trail meaning less rider fatigue.

Torsional Trailing arm Independent rear suspension (TTI)

The only independent rear suspension that eliminates scrub and camber changes, meaning the wheels pivot up and down rather than in a butterfly motion like competitors' systems. This ensures the vehicle only moves in the direction you point it. With fewer moving parts than competitive systems. The proven TTI rear suspension has a suspension travel of 9 in. (229 mm) .

Visco-Lok† auto-locking 4x4 front differential

The Visco-Lok† 4 x 4 system constantly monitors front wheel speed and, if it detects one wheel spinning faster than the other, it progressively sends more power to the wheel with the better traction. And it does it all without the rider having to lift a finger.

Cast-aluminum wheels

Lightweight 4 twin-spoke design gives an aggressive and premium look.

26-in. Carlisle Badlands radial tires

Mated to the cast-aluminum wheels are rugged 26-in. Carlisle Badlands tires that offer superior performance in a variety of conditions and terrain.

Center skid plate

Center skid plate made of 5-mm thick injection-molded high-density polyethylene (HDPE). Offers better frame protection for riding in rough terrain.

Steel racks with 300 lb (136 kg) capacity

Multi-function digital gauge

Tells the rider everything in one easy glance. Our easy-to-read multi-function gauge is equipped with a digital information center including a speedometer, tachometer , odometer, trip meter, gear position, hour meter, engine hour meter, temperature and engine lights, fuel gauge and a clock function.

D.E.S.S.™ (Digitally Encoded Security System)

Outlander MAX models feature the exclusive D.E.S.S.™ anti-theft system. The ATV will not start unless a coded microchip in the key matches a code embedded in the engine control module. It means only you can start your vehicle.

Ergonomic passenger backrest

A well-padded active backrest moves with rider for better comfort.

Convertible Rack/Seat system (CRS) with storage box

Takes the Outlander MAX from one-up to two-up in a matter of seconds. Gives you plenty of storage in one-up mode and unmatched comfort and convenience for your passenger when riding two-up -all without tools.

Raised floorboards

Raised passenger floorboards for added comfort.

Multi-position passenger handgrips

For added comfort.

- Torsional Trailing arm Independent rear suspension (TTI)
- Double A-arm front suspension

2012 Can-Am Outlander MAX 800R Features and Benefits

71-hp Rotax 800R V-twin, liquid-cooled engine

Best-in-class power with 71-hp. The liquid-cooled, single overhead cam power plant has four valves per cylinder, a 46-mm throttle body and two VDO Siemens‡ fuel injectors. The EFI system keeps the 800R engine's performance at its peak and a progressive throttle ensures power is manageable whether in precise rock crawling or opening it up on the straights.

Our easy-to-read multi-function gauge is equipped with a digital information center including a speedometer, tachometer, odometer, trip meter, gear position, hour meter, engine hour meter, temperature and engine lights, fuel gauge and a clock function.

2012 Can-Am Outlander MAX 800R XT Features and Benefits

71-hp Rotax 800R V-twin, liquid-cooled engine

Best-in-class power with 71-hp. The liquid-cooled, single overhead cam power plant has four valves per cylinder, a 46-mm throttle body and two VDO Siemens‡ fuel injectors. The EFI system keeps the 800R engine's performance at its peak and a progressive throttle ensures power is manageable whether in precise rock crawling or opening it up on the straights.

Tri-mode Dynamic Power Steering (DPS™)

The Tri-Mode DPS™ features three rider-selectable modes (MIN, MED and MAX) of steering depending on rider preference. The system is designed to offer less assist at high speed and more assist at low speed. This technology also includes a Direct Link setup that uses advanced magnetic field sensors for faster response to steering input than competitive technology, which then minimizes steering lag. Less kickback and more trail feedback is supplied to the operator because of the 50:1 final gear ratio, which is the largest in the industry. A high-capacity 50-amp motor means the DPS™ will never fade with heavy use and all DPS™-equipped models also come with the Visco-Lok† QE.

Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) with engine braking

For ease of use, you can count on the CVT transmission that features engine braking to help slow you when going downhill.

Visco-Lok† QE auto-locking front differential

All DPS-equipped models have the Visco-Lok† QE calibration up front, which has all the features and benefits of the standard quick-engagement Visco-Lok† differential, but with an even quicker engagement point. This differential, unlike some competitors' differentials, does not have a speed limiter.

Double A-arm front suspension

The front suspension geometry provides light steering on the trail meaning less rider fatigue.

Black cast-aluminum wheels with color-matched inserts

Lightweight 4 twin-spoke design gives an aggressive and premium look to the Outlander. Painted black with color-matched inserts.

(229 mm) .

26 in. Carlisle8 ACT radial tires

These 26 in., 3-ply tires feature a tread pattern that is aggressive enough to tackle the toughest terrain, yet provide a smooth ride in a lightweight package.

Center skid plate

Center skid plate made of 5-mm thick injection-molded high-density polyethylene (HDPE). Offers better frame protection for riding in rough terrain.

3,000-lb WARN8 winch with roller fairlead, wired remote control & integrated remote storage

Key Features
Special version KingQuad 750AXi 4x4 Power Steering featuring Realtree Hardwoods HD Enhanced camouflage bodywork.

Compact and lightweight electric power steering positioned high on the vehicle to help avoid water and debris, delivers lighter steering in a variety of conditions to help reduce rider fatigue.

Suzuki fuel injection system provides excellent throttle response, fuel efficiency and quick engine starts.

Engine Features
722cc liquid-cooled DOHC 4-valve fuel-injected engine tuned to deliver a mighty low-to-mid range torque along with a powerful high-rpm output.

Lightweight aluminum cylinder bore is electro-plated with Suzuki's own race proven SCEM (Suzuki Composite Electrochemical Material) for improved heat transfer and tighter piston clearance.

Cylinder canted forward 48 degrees for lower center of gravity, reduced engine height and lower seat height, and is rubber mounted with two balancer shafts for smooth performance.

Compact 4-valve cylinder head with large 36mm intake valves and straight intake ports for increased cylinder charging efficiency – includes lightweight magnesium valve cover

Semi-gear driven valve system minimizes cam sprocket size allowing a short/narrow cylinder head design and reduced overall engine height.

The rubber-mounted engine uses two balancer shafts to keep the powerful ride smooth.

Ultra-efficient air filter has both paper (for superior filtration) and foam (easily cleaned and re-used) elements for better durability and less maintenance.

Transmission Features
QuadMatic™ CVT-type automatic transmission designed for maximum versatility and convenience – fender-mounted gate-type shifter operation for high/low forward ranges, plus neutral and reverse.

Compact torque-sensing limited-slip front differential offers more powerful traction plus light steering effort. A differential-lock system provides serious four-wheel-drive traction.

Convenient handlebar-mounted push-button controls allow the rider to easily select between 2WD, 4WD and differential-lock 4WD to get the right setting for any traction condition.

Advanced engine brake system minimizes free-wheeling to reduce downhill speed.

Chassis Features
High-tensile steel frame with special attention given to a balance of rigidity and weight for optimum chassis performance and a comfortable ride.

Independent double A-arm front suspension (6.7 inches of wheel travel) includes large diameter shock absorbers with 5-way spring preload adjustment

Fully independent, A-arm and I-beam rear suspension with long suspension travel (7.7 inches of wheel travel), includes large diameter shock absorbers with 5-way spring preload adjustment and large diameter rear sway-bar.

Large, 200mm diameter front disc brakes with single-piston calipers designed for strong, reliable braking performance.

Sealed, multi-plate rear brake system, with a clutch-type design provides high durability, offers reduced unsprung weight, and is low-maintenance.

Pressed-aluminum black wheels for reduced unsprung weight.

Comfortable T-shaped seat with tapered design for rider mobility, plus thick padding for support

Polyethylene skid plate provides front-to-rear under carriage protection with minimal resistance over rocks and rough terrain.

Utility/Convenience Features
Easy-to-read LCD instrument display – includes speedometer (mile/km selectable), odometer, twin-trip meters, hour meter, clock, fuel gauge, drive range.

Distinctively styled 30W multi-reflector halogen headlights, and compact 5/21W tail light and brake light – additional 40W multi-reflector, handlebar-mounted auxiliary light.

High output magneto generator system and 18-amp maintenance-free battery provides extra power.

Large 4.6 gallon fuel tank positioned below seat for a low center-of-gravity – includes vacuum-operated petcock, ratchet-style fuel cap and convenient bar-type fuel gauge.

A handy storage compartment is mounted on the right-side front fender.

Front and rear cargo racks are covered in a wrinkle-finish black paint for increased durability.
