- 30-in. (76.2 cm) Gorilla Axle Silverback tires

- Integrated Snorkel System (ISS) and relocated radiator

2012 Can-Am Outlander 800R X mr Features and Benefits

71-hp Rotax 800R V-twin, liquid-cooled engine

Best-in-class power with 71-hp. The liquid-cooled, single overhead cam power plant has four valves per cylinder, a 46-mm throttle body and two VDO Siemens‡ fuel injectors. The EFI system keeps the 800R engine's performance at its peak and a progressive throttle ensures power is manageable whether in precise rock crawling or opening it up on the straights.

Front and rear Air Control Suspension (ACS)

The industry's first air-controlled suspension. Via an onboard compressor, the system adjusts the front and rear high-pressure gas Fox Racing Shox-built shocks to six rider-selectable preload levels. This allows the suspension of the X mr to be adjusted on-the-fly depending on terrain or vehicle load. It also comes with a hose that can be used to fill tires or other accessories while out on the trail.

Torsional Trailing arm Independent rear suspension (TTI)

The only independent rear suspension that eliminates scrub and camber changes, meaning the wheels pivot up and down rather than in a butterfly motion like competitors' systems. This ensures the vehicle only moves in the direction you point it. With fewer moving parts than competitive systems. The proven TTI rear suspension has a suspension travel of 9 in. (229 mm) .

Double A-arm front suspension

The front suspension geometry provides light steering on the trail meaning less rider fatigue.

30-in. (76.2 cm) Gorilla Axle Silverback tires

Designed by Gorilla Axle for mud riding and racing, these tires were developed to go in the deepest mudholes of east Texas and Louisiana. The tires give mud performance, yet a smooth ride when traveling to the mud hole.

14 in. (35.6 cm) ITP cast-aluminum wheels

Large ITP cast aluminum wheels to give the Outlander X mr an aggressive look. And each features a stylish hub cap with the Gorilla Axle logo.

3,000-lb WARN8 winch with roller fairlead, wired remote control & integrated remote storage

This powerful 3,000-lb (1,361 kg) capacity factory-installed winch is equipped with a wired remote control that neatly stows in the underside of the ATV's front storage compartment cover.

Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) with engine braking

For ease of use, you can count on the CVT transmission that features engine braking to help slow you when going downhill.

Integrated snorkel system (ISS)

ISS brings CVT intake, CVT exhaust and engine intake as high as possible on the ATV to allow the engine to breath easily while riding in the mud. They are located in the pod directly in front of the handlebars in a centralized location.

Tri-mode Dynamic Power Steering (DPS™)

The Tri-Mode DPS™ features three rider-selectable modes (MIN, MED and MAX) of steering depending on rider preference. The system is designed to offer less assist at high speed and more assist at low speed. This technology also includes a Direct Link setup that uses advanced magnetic field sensors for faster response to steering input than competitive technology, which then minimizes steering lag. Less kickback and more trail feedback is supplied to the operator because of the 50:1 final gear ratio, which is the largest in the industry. A high-capacity 50-amp motor means the DPS™ will never fade with heavy use and all DPS™-equipped models also come with the Visco-Lok† QE.

Relocated radiator

The radiator is relocated to the front rack, keeping it high up on the ATV and out of the mud and water.

Visco-Lok† QE auto-locking front differential

All DPS-equipped models have the Visco-Lok† QE calibration up front, which has all the features and benefits of the standard quick-engagement Visco-Lok† differential, but with an even quicker engagement point. This differential, unlike some competitors' differentials, does not have a speed limiter.

Aluminum taper-profile handlebar with square pad

Handlebar with wind deflectors

Premium look and protection from brush and cold.

650-W magneto

This package provides a more powerful magneto with 650 watts of power output.

Mudguards

Provide added protection in muddy conditions.

Mud riding footrests

For an optimized ergonomic position while riding in the deepest mud

59-in. wheelbase

Uses the 59-in. wheelbase of the Outlander MAX 800R platform for improved performance in the deepest mud

D.E.S.S.™ (Digitally Encoded Security System)

Outlander models feature the exclusive D.E.S.S.™ anti-theft system. The ATV will not start unless a coded microchip in the key matches a code embedded in the engine control module. It means only you can start your vehicle.
