2013 Honda FourTrax Rincon TRX680FA Review

There's the Rincon. Then there's the rest...

Over the years, the FourTrax® Rincon® has cemented its reputation as the ultimate 700cc-class workhorse, capable of taking on the toughest tasks with ease. And while the Rincon is a beast when it comes to tackling To Do lists, this ATV is really a “Sport-Utility” machine at heart, delivering smooth, powerful, class-leading performance no matter what the occasion, be it hunting, trail blazing, or simply exploring. No surprise there, really, considering the features it packs, like a huge, liquid-cooled 675cc engine with Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI). Honda’s fully Independent Rear Suspension (IRS) system for optimal traction. A revolutionary, ultra-smooth automotive-style three-speed automatic transmission. And to top it all off, sleek, SUV-like styling with Natural Gear Camouflage bodywork as a color option.

2013 Honda FourTrax Rincon TRX680FA atv pictures 1High-Tech Industry.

Sure, they're rugged and reliable, but Honda Utility ATVs are also built to make your life easier, whether you're working the back 40 or your favorite trail, and we achieve this with some of the most revolutionary technology in the industry. Like Electric Power Steering, designed with torque and speed sensors to reduce steering effort (and rider fatigue) when the going gets tough. Independent Rear Suspension (IRS) that allows both rear wheels to move independently, helping you maintain traction and control even in rough terrain.

And there's a transmission for every type of use. Our continuously variable, fully automatic Hondamatic™ transmission (available on the Foreman Rubicon), is the smoothest ATV transmission you'll ever experience. The three-speed Honda Automatic transmission (an automotive-style torque converter) is available on our FourTrax Rincon. And the Rancher AT has the Honda automatic dual-clutch, five-speed transmission, which features one of the slickest- and quickest-shifting gearboxes on dirt.

2013 Honda FourTrax Rincon TRX680FA atv pictures 2And this is just for starters, as our feature-packed machines are all built with the same purpose in mind: to work and play hard so you don't have to.

2013 Honda FourTrax Rincon TRX680FA Key Features

Independence Day - Ensuring constant tire contact with the ground, the Rincon’s double-wishbone Independent Rear Suspension (IRS) is ultra-smooth, and thus less tiring, over all types of terrain.

2013 Honda FourTrax Rincon TRX680FA Features and Benefits

1,000 lb. Cargo Bed Capacity - MUVs are built to haul stuff, and Big Red is ready to get to work. The bed capacity is 1,000 pounds. And Big Red uses a steel tilt bed with a composite liner and a heavy-duty hydraulic assist that makes operation easy.

Adjustable Preload Rear Shocks - In addition to a fully independent rear suspension, the rear shocks feature preload adjustability to better handle Big Red's increased load capabilities.

Honda Automatic Transmission - Quite simply, this is the best automatic transmission available in any MUV. Big claim? Sure, but check out these features: A stout, heavy-duty torque converter instead of a system of pulleys and belts, three hydraulic clutches, and positive engine braking.

1,500 lb. Towing Capacity - Big Red has a heavy-duty two-inch receiver-style hitch and the towing capacity is 1,500 lbs.

675cc Liquid-Cooled Engine with Fuel Injection - Honda is famous for our engines, and we gave Big Red one of our best. It's a liquid-cooled four-stroke single-cylinder with tons of torque. Fuel injection means it starts right up, even on cold days or at high altitude, and also helps give you more range on a tankful of gas.

Doors with Double Latch Mechanism - Big Red's rugged, composite doors feature an automotive style double latching system securing you and your passengers in while keeping what nature throws at you out.

Contoured Bench Seat - Big Red's two-passenger contoured bench seat provides lots of room and allows easy entry and exit.

Seatbelts - You'd think all seatbelts are alike, but that's hardly the case. And once again, Big Red's attention to detail sets this MUV apart. We use automotive-style three-point belts with an Emergency Locking Retractor mechanism to help keep you and your passenger safe and secure.

Side Nets - Big Red's roll-up side nets (standard equipment) make cleaning and maintenance easier. But remember to attach them fully before you get going.

Occupant Protection Structure - We built Big Red's stout Occupant Protection Structure around the rider and passenger, and positioned the seats so you're well protected. Built out of sturdy, large diameter tubing, Big Red's Occupant Protection Structure includes such details as integrated handholds, recessed top tubes and a more spacious structure to enhance protection. In addition, Big Red's Occupant Protection Structure meets OSHA's 1928.53 rollover protection standard.

Independent Double-Wishbone Front Suspension - Front independent double-wishbone suspension contributes to Big Red's all-day riding comfort.

Four-Wheel Disc Brakes - Naturally, we gave Big Red the best brakes in the business: hydraulic discs on all four wheels. A patented scraper system helps prevent debris buildup between caliper and rim, and best of all the balanced, automotive design features two separate braking circuits, which helps ensure front and rear braking even if one brake line is damaged.

Performance You Can Count On. - Big Red’s transmission isn’t just another automatic—Big Red features the Honda automatic, the industry’s only true automotive-style automatic with a heavy-duty torque converter.

Safety that Sets it Apart. - With Big Red, we’ve made a commitment to safety, just what you’d expect from Honda. An innovative balanced braking system that ensures front and rear braking even in the event that one brake line fails, automotive-type three-point Emergency Locking Retractor seatbelts, occupant protection structure, a wide-track chassis design, and much more—it’s all part of Big Red’s overall design.

More Features than Ever - Big Red even offers a generous cargo bed with a full 1000-pound capacity. And if that's not enough, the towing capacity is an even bigger 1500 pounds. Big Red’s ready to work harder than ever!

2013 Honda FourTrax Foreman Rubicon with Electric Power Steering TRX500FPA Review

Ready. Rugged. Reliable: Rubicon...

• 499cc Liquid-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke engine
• Hondamatic Transmission
• Electric Power Steering

There's a very good reason the FourTrax® Foreman® Rubicon™ has gained an iconic reputation for its off-road prowess: It has earned its cred the hard way, through years of real-world use. Its unique continuously variable Hondamatic automatic transmission with true engine braking has proven to be efficient, maintenance-free and extremely rugged. This automatic transmission can be set in different modes for maximum performance or maximum torque, as well as in Electric Shift Program (ESP®) mode that gives the rider push-button control. Add in a torque-sensitive front differential along with Honda's TraxLok® selectable 2WD/4WD system plus the option of Electric Power Steering (EPS), and it's easy to see why the Rubicon remains a favorite among riders who demand an especially capable ATV.

2013 Honda FourTrax Foreman Rubicon with Electric Power Steering TRX500FPA Key Features

Important Safety Information - Recommended for riders 16 years of age and older. Honda recommends that all ATV riders take a training course and read their owner's manual thoroughly.

Electric Power Steering - Honda’s Electric Power Steering features sophisticated torque sensors that measure how much force you’re applying and then tailor how much extra assist you need.

Accessories as tough as the ATVs they’re on - When you're riding the best ATV on the planet, only the best accessories will do—Honda Genuine Accessories. These accessories are designed specifically for your Honda vehicle and feature the same quality and durability you’ve come to expect from Honda.

The Amazing Hondamatic - There’s no other automatic like it on any ATV. Even Hondas. You get an almost infinite choice of gear “ratios” thanks to its continuously variable design.

Honda Genuine Accessories - Winch Kit, Rear Swingarm Guard, Frame Skid Plate, A-Arm Guards, Soft Rack Bag (front and rear), Cargo Box (front and rear), Fender Bag, Outdoor Cover (XXL), Recoil Starter Kit, Aluminum ATV Wheels (front and rear)

2013 Honda FourTrax Foreman Rubicon with Electric Power Steering TRX500FPA Features and Benefits

TraxLok - TraxLok is a shift system that lets you select either two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. Two-wheel drive gives you lighter steering on flat ground, while four-wheel drive maximizes traction when you need it. Choosing between them couldn't be easier, and you get the best of both worlds.

Triple Headlights - The Rubicon features three headlights, two mounted on the front fenders and one on the handlebar. The 45-watt handlebar light moves with the bar to illuminate the area you choose. All three use multi-reflector lenses for superior light distribution.

Electric Shift Program (ESP) - Upshifting or downshifting is easy and fast—just push one of two handlebar-mounted buttons. ESP is a huge advantage when riding in heavy boots or if your boots are covered in mud or snow because you don't have to fuss with a conventional left-foot ATV shift lever.

Electric Power Steering (EPS)

Accessory Power Outlet - The Rubicon comes with a 12-volt accessory outlet as standard equipment. That makes it easy to run or recharge your electronics (cell-phone charger, GPS, etc.) out in the woods or on the jobsite. An optional rear-mounted outlet is also available as a Honda Genuine Accessory.

Front Adjustable Suspension - Adjustable dual shocks allow you to optimize suspension performance for various load conditions.

Semi-Dry-Sump Engine Design - Compact and lighter-weight, the Rubicon's overhead-valve, semi-dry sump design creates an engine that's shorter from top to bottom. That returns two big benefits: it enhances handling by lowering the engine's center of gravity, and it also increases ground clearance.

Hondamatic Transmission - A continuously variable design, the Hondamatic is probably the smoothest automatic you'll ever ride. You get total control, a smooth ride, and plenty of power: a win-win-win situation!

Towing Capacity - Got a tough job to tackle? No problem—the Rubicon is up to the task. With a generous 850-pound towing capacity and rack capacity of 66 pounds up front and 133 pounds in the rear, the Rubicon is ready to double as a pack mule when you need to carry a load. (Hitch ball shown sold separately.)

Rear Adjustable Suspension - Adjustable dual shocks allow you to optimize suspension performance for various load conditions.

2013 Honda FourTrax Foreman 4x4 TRX500FM

Styling - The Foreman line's bodywork gives it a tough look. But it does more than just look good: It's designed to last, despite the scrapes and dings of the job or the woods, and to help protect you from mud and other debris.

2013 Honda FourTrax Foreman 4x4 TRX500FM Review

Built to work — even harder...

Honda’s Foreman all-terrain vehicles have always been the machines to count on when you need an ATV that’s not afraid to take on the tough jobs. And this year is no different: they’re just as strong. Just as rugged. And just as hard working, whether it’s around the ranch, the factory, or on your favorite trail.

In addition to four-wheel drive and Honda’s innovative Electric Power Steering, the Foreman line features Honda’s Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI). That means you get more efficient fuel delivery, easier starting in cold conditions and less maintenance. The Foreman looks the part, too, with aggressively styled bodywork, plush suspension, and a comfortable seat for all-day riding.

So if you’ve got some tough jobs lined up on the jobsite, make sure you put the Foreman in charge.

For riders who prefer a manual-shift transmission, the FourTrax® Foreman® 4x4 line of ATVs fulfills the role of a tough and seasoned workhorse, whether the day calls for a 10-hour shift at the ranch or a pleasant weekend ride to that special fishing spot. Equipped with a strong-pulling liquid-cooled 475cc single-cylinder OHV four-stroke engine, the Foreman also features a sophisticated Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) system for optimum throttle response, consistent performance at high altitude, and hassle-free cold-weather starting. The tough rear suspension system incorporates a high-quality shock for increased comfort, precision and work capabilities. Also, a short wheelbase aids agile handling and helps produce a tight turning radius. Add in crisp styling with a rugged and tough look and you'll see why the Foreman is the perfect way to lighten the day's work or whisk you away on an adventure.

High-Tech Industry.

And this is just for starters, as our feature-packed machines are all built with the same purpose in mind: to work and play hard so you don't have to.

To build a great workhorse ATV, we start with the heart.

The FourTrax Foreman 4x4 is built around our strong, single-cylinder, 475cc longitudinal engine. By orienting the crankshaft front-to-back in the chassis, we route the flow of power straight to the wheels without any right-angle detours, reducing power-train friction and putting more grunt to the ground. Hey, it's a Honda. You wouldn't expect anything less.

2013 Honda FourTrax Foreman 4x4 TRX500FM Key Features

• Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI)
• 475cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke engine
• TraxLok selectable 2WD/4WD

Important Safety Information - Recommended for riders 16 years of age and older. Honda recommends that all ATV riders take a training course and read their owner's manual thoroughly.

Fuel-Injected Performance. - Equipped with our Programmed Fuel Injection system, the Foreman works harder, provides better fuel management, and delivers plenty of power and torque for those tough jobs.

It looks tough. Because it is tough. - The Foreman’s bodywork gives it a rugged appearance. But it does more than just look good. It’s designed to last, despite the scrapes and dings of the job or woods; to help protect you from mud and other debris; and to keep looking good as long as you own it.

Tough on the job. Not on you. - The better your Foreman rides, the shorter your workday seems. That’s why we gave our Foreman line plush suspension with comfortable ergonomics and a soft saddle. So you can tackle your chores or the trails in comfort, all day long.

2013 Honda FourTrax Foreman 4x4 TRX500FM Features and Benefits

Styling - The Foreman line's bodywork gives it a tough look. But it does more than just look good: It's designed to last, despite the scrapes and dings of the job or the woods, and to help protect you from mud and other debris.

Liquid Cooling - Our time-tested Honda engine is liquid-cooled, which provides more consistent operating temperatures and more power than a comparable air-cooled motor. This adds up to better performance and longer engine life.

Accessory Power Outlet - The Foreman comes with a 12-volt accessory outlet as standard equipment. That makes it easy to run or recharge your electronics (cell-phone charger, GPS, etc.) out in the woods or on the jobsite. An optional rear-mounted outlet is also available as a Honda Genuine Accessory.

Triple Headlights - The Foreman features three headlights, two mounted on the front fenders and one on the handlebar. The 45-watt handlebar light moves with the bar to illuminate the area you choose. All three use multi-reflector lenses for superior light distribution.

TraxLok - Our rock-solid reliable mechanical system lets you choose either 2WD or 4WD, giving you the freedom to choose between lighter steering (in 2WD) and maximizing available traction (4WD) when you need it most.

Semi-Dry-Sump Engine Design - Compact and lighter-weight, the Foreman's overhead-valve, semi-dry sump design creates an engine that's not only shorter from top to bottom, but one that enhances handling by lowering the center of gravity and increasing ground clearance.

Fuel Injection - The Foreman's fuel-injection system does more than just deliver crisp, seamless performance and ensure hassle-free operation in cold conditions and varying altitudes. It also improves throttle response and returns better fuel efficiency.

Comfortable Seat - A soft seat and open rider triangle (Bars/Seat/Pegs) teams up with the suspension to really treat you right. Superior ergonomics have always been a Honda priority, and the Foreman is no exception.

Towing Capacity - Got a tough job to tackle? No problem—the Foreman is up to the task. With a generous 850-pound towing capacity and rack capacity of 66 pounds up front and 133 pounds in the rear, the Foreman is ready to double as a pack mule when you need to carry a load. (Hitch ball shown sold separately.)

Adjustable Suspension - With a plush suspension front and rear, the Foreman absorbs bumps so you don't have to. That means you can work longer—without feeling like you have.

Longitudinal Engine Layout
Electric Shift Program (ESP) - Upshifting and downshift has never been this easy: With Honda's available exclusive ESP system, you get the ease of an automatic with the strength of a conventional transmission. To shift up or down all you have to do is push one of two handlebar-mounted buttons. Since there's no foot-shift lever, ESP is also a bonus when riding in heavy or mud/snow-covered boots.

2013 Kawasaki Brute Force 650 4x4 ATV Pictures and specifications

2013 Kawasaki Brute Force 650 4x4

Full Sized 4x4 with Great Power and Unbeatable Value

Smart buyers looking for maximum performance for their hard-earned dollars don’t need to look any further than their local Kawasaki dealer. Equipped with a great-sounding V-twin and a capable 4x4 system, the Brute Force® 650 4x4 ATV’s many talents are offered for about the same price as the 500cc ATVs from other manufacturer’s, making it a preferred choice among riders who demand premium performance, maximum strength and great value.

2013 Kawasaki Brute Force 650 4x4 ATV pictures. 480x360 pixels

2013 Kawasaki Brute Force 650 4x4 Review

The Brute Force’s 633cc four-stroke V-twin delivers impressive torque and offers smooth V-twin power delivery that clearly places it a step above its mid-size competition. Dual 32mm Keihin carburetors feed the engine with clean air drawn from an intake located high on the frame.

2013 Kawasaki Brute Force 650 4x4 ATV pictures 2The robust engine is mated to the Kawasaki Automatic Powerdrive System (KAPS) continuously variable transmission (CVT). With low and high range, neutral and reverse, this dependable transmission functions seamlessly, providing excellent control for both low- and high-speed work or recreational riding. Additionally, the Brute Force 650 4x4 can be started in any gear, as long as one of the brakes is applied.

Power is delivered to the wheels through dependable, low-maintenance shaft drive contained in a lightweight aluminum swingarm. The rider can select two- or four-wheel drive operation via a switch conveniently mounted on the right handle bar. In normal four-wheel drive mode, the front wheels provide extra traction for adverse terrain, while the limited-slip differential allows the rider to make tight turns and reduces steering effort.

When maximum traction is needed, the rider can utilize Kawasaki’s Variable Front Differential Control by pulling a lever on the left handlebar to send power to both front wheels. This is a definite advantage for riders encountering deep mud and slippery uphill trails or when traversing over large objects such as logs or rocks.

The cutting-edge Brute Force 650 4x4 braking system design is a combination of dual front disc brakes with dual-piston calipers and Kawasaki’s sealed, oil-bathed, multi-disc rear brake system. As an integrated part of the shaft drive, the rear braking system is sealed in the aluminum swingarm where it operates in an oil bath. This protects the brake from mud, dust and debris, and is virtually maintenance-free.

Enhancing the high-performance brakes is the Kawasaki Engine Brake Control system, which electronically monitors ground speed and uses the engine’s compression to help slow the Brute Force ATV under certain conditions.

A plush and controlled ride is a Kawasaki ATV forte, and the Brute Force 650 4x4 exemplifies this specialty, thanks to its MacPherson strut front suspension with 6.7 inches of travel and an aluminum swingarm out back featuring a shock with adjustable preload, a piggy-back reservoir and 7.2 inches of travel.

Additional comfort is provided by a large seat and adjustable footpegs mounted atop full-size floorboards. To help reduce unsprung weight and further enhance the smooth ride, the Brute Force rolls on lightweight aluminum wheels.

The modern, aggressively angled lines and high-gloss appearance of the scratch-resistant Thermoplastic Olefin (TPO) bodywork are complemented by bright cat-eye headlights. The fully digital instrumentation includes speedometer, odometer, dual resettable trip meters, clock, hour meter, fuel gauge and 2x4/4x4 indicators.

Leading the list of handy conveniences on the Brute Force 650 4x4 is a DC power outlet to provide quick and easy power for electrical accessories. A space inside the front guard easily accommodates a 3,000 pound-capacity winch from Warn or Superwinch.

The front and rear steel racks on the Brute Force 650 4x4 can carry a total of 264 pounds of cargo; a hitch bracket enables the ATV to tow up to 1,250 pounds. Owners can expand the versatility of their Brute Force ATV via the extensive line of Genuine Kawasaki Accessories, available through Kawasaki dealers.

As with all off-highway vehicle recreation, Kawasaki encourages ATV riders to ride responsibly and to respect the environment. Kawasaki will pay first-time buyers of a new Kawasaki ATV $100 for completing an ATV rider safety course conducted by the ATV Safety Institute (ASI). Interested consumers can call ASI toll-free at 800-887-2887.

When it comes to dollar stretching performance, Kawasaki’s mid-sized Brute Force 650 4x4 all-terrain vehicle (ATV) is the

2013 Kawasaki Brute Force 300 2x4

Big Style and Performance - The Brute Force® 300 offers strong utility and sporting capabilities in a compact and surprisingly affordable package. Here’s an all-around sport utility ATV that’s not only loads of fun to ride, but also delivers a high degree of strength, practicality and everyday versatility when there is work to be done. Whether you’re mending fences on the ranch, plowing snow or trail-blazing with the family, this ATV exceeds the rider’s expectations. It also exceeds the expectations of professionals, being named the “ATV of the Year” by the journalists and test riders at ATV Illustrated magazine!

2013 Kawasaki Brute Force 300 2x4 Review

Its strong, liquid-cooled, 271cc four-stroke engine is designed to pump out plenty of low- and mid-range torque – the sort of power that’s easy and highly satisfying to use. Just push the throttle and away you go; no fuss, no muss.

2013 Kawasaki Brute Force 300 2x4 atv pictures 2Power is routed to the rear wheels via a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) with centrifugal clutch. Transmission and CVT ratios are tailored for optimum power delivery in the speed ranges appropriate for a smaller-displacement ATV. These ratios also provide just the right amount of engine braking, which helps to tame tricky downhill trails and make slowing down an easier proposition.

Primary braking power comes from hydraulically activated triple disc brakes, one disc for each front wheel and a third fitted to the rear axle. All three 180mm discs are squeezed by single-piston calipers that the rider controls through a pair of levers on the handlebar. Braking and acceleration traction is provided by tires jointly developed by Kawasaki and Maxxis for maximum traction, balanced handling and optimal wear characteristics.

Much of this balanced handling comes via the Brute Force 300’s double wishbone suspension setup with 5-way adjustable shocks up front and a similarly adjustable damper working through a swingarm in back. Optimized damping and spring rates result in a comfortable ride in a wide range of conditions, while one of the widest stances in its class results in capable steering and confidence inspiring handling.

But what brings all this modern technology together is the Brute Force 300’s rugged, big-ATV styling, which was modeled after its larger Brute Force siblings. Whether you call it a family resemblance or sibling rivalry, the result is plenty impressive, with tall, beefy fenders that offer superb protection from mud and debris, and angular styling that looks both modern and aggressive.

Cockpit accommodations are generous and comfortable, with a wide handlebar for easy turning and enough room for larger riders. Grip weights help reduce engine vibration, while the half-waffle grips offer enhanced comfort even after hours in the saddle. And that saddle, by the way, sports a flat profile and super-thick cushioning – just the thing when you want to ride for a good long time.

The Brute Force 300 ATV sports many other features, including a multi-function digital instrumentation showing all manner of useful information, a handy DC electrical socket, a gate-style shifter and a handy parking brake. There’s tons of overall carrying capacity, too, with strong front and rear racks (44 pounds of capacity up front and 66 pounds in back) and a pair of handy compartments, one up front and another built into the right fender. Towing capacity is a surprisingly strong 500 pounds, and there’s even space and a mounting bracket behind the front grille for a winch.

An electric push-button starter with a backup recoil unit offers maximum starting convenience, while the strong footpeg/floorboard design does double duty, offering riders plenty of room for their feet and helping increase the Brute Force 300’s mud resistance when the going gets sloppy. Finally, a 3.2-gallon fuel tank means this stellar combination of fun and utility will last a good long time between fill-ups.

All in all, you won’t find a better outfitted ATV in the entry-level class. Though it is not an open-class ATV, the Brute Force 300 still delivers plenty of power and ability to tackle just about any task or riding situation.

Genuine Kawasaki Accessories are available through authorized Kawasaki dealers.

All new for 2013, the Brute Force™ 300 bristles with high-end features in the mid-sized utility ATV segment. From its Brute Force
family styling and creature comforts to its sophisticated liquid-cooling and automatic drive system, the Brute Force 300 simply

2013 Honda FourTrax Foreman 4x4 ES with Electric Power Steering TRX500FPE Review

Built to work — even harder...

All Foreman 4x4 features plus adds: Electric Shift Program and Electric Power Steering

For a hard-working riding partner that also knows more than a thing or two about recreation, the FourTrax® Foreman® series of 4x4 ATVs is hard to beat. Featuring Honda's renowned Electric Shift Program (ESP®) that delivers push-button convenience for shifting, the Foreman ES line of ATVs boasts a strong-running liquid-cooled 475cc single-cylinder OHV four-stroke engine that's powerful enough for taking on a wide range of extra-tough jobs. Credit the fuel injection system for near-instant throttle response, consistent performance at high altitude, and hassle-free cold-weather starting-key benefits of the Foreman's performance package. The rolling chassis delivers agile handling and a tight turning radius, and features suspension that provides remarkable comfort and hard-working capabilities. Factor in the option of Electric Power Steering (EPS), and you've got one of the strongest, hardest-working rides available today.

2013 Honda FourTrax Foreman 4x4 ES with Electric Power Steering TRX500FPE Features and Benefits

2013 Honda FourTrax Foreman Rubicon TRX500FA Features and Benefits
