85-hp Rotax 1000 engine

Liquid-cooled, 8-valve Rotax 976cc V-twin pumps out a class-leading 85 horsepower, yet is refined thanks to EFI and iTC.The liquid-cooled, single overhead cam power plant features four valves per cylinder and is fed by a 54-mm Bosch‡ throttle body and two VDO Seimens‡ fuel injectors. The sophisticated electronic fuel injection system automatically keeps the engine's performance at its peak, regardless of temperature or altitude.*As per manufacturer's official MY11 declaration to the California Air Resources Board and based on mileage estimates from BRP internal testing.

Front and rear Air Control Suspension (ACS)

The ACS system uses FOX Racing Shox HPG piggyback shocks and an onboard compressor to allow the rider to choose on the fly from six preset preload levels. Front and rear can be adjusted independently. Includes a hose to fill tires or other items on the trail.

Intelligent Throttle Control (iTC)

iTC’s throttle-by-wire set up improves throttle response, smoothes power delivery and ensure precision throttle control even in the roughest of terrain. The Rotax engine uses a throttle-by-wire system for more accurate throttle response and a smooth power delivery. If the driver’s foot bounces on the gas pedal in rough terrain, iTC detects unwanted bounces and filters the input, resulting in more throttle accuracy, especially at low speed. It also reduces the number of moving parts in the vehicle; has no cable to adjust, lubricate, or replace; and the system has an increased life span.
4,000-lb WARN® winch with roller fairlead, wired remote control and integrated winch remote storage

BRP partnered with well-known off-road industry leader WARN to add its 4,000-lb winch to the Commander XT and LIMITED. BRP chose a premium WARN winch kit for the ultimate in performance and durability. A quicker steering ratio means more responsive handling with pinpoint accuracy and control. The steering ratio of the Can-Am Commander is 10.2:1. This translates to more accurate, responsive and precise control.
2-piece full hard roof

Two-piece roof comes standard with the Commander 1000 LIMITED model. Designed to be durable and attractive, our two-piece hard roof lets you customize your Commander LIMITED as you see fit. It also keeps you better protected from the elements and offers a unique look compared to stock.
Double A-arm front suspension with dive-control geometry

The Can-Am Commander's double A-arm front suspension is designed with dive-control geometry that works to eliminate diving under heavy breaking and rough terrain. The front end features 10 in. of travel (25 cm) and five-way preload-adjustable motion-control shocks.

Half windshield

The Commander 1000 LIMITED’s half windshield offers stylish protection without the airflow restriction of a full windshield. The half windshield creates a more stunning overall appearance. It also reduces the amount of trail debris reaching the cab, yet lets more air reach the occupants.
Torsional Trailing arm Independent (TTI) rear suspension with external sway bar

Exclusive to Can-Am, TTI eliminates scrub and camber changes by using proprietary geometry that places the pivot points ahead of the rear wheels. The Torsional Trailing arm Independent (TTI) rear suspension is the only independent rear suspension that eliminates scrub and camber changes. Because the pivot points are ahead of the wheels, the rear wheels pivot up and down, which ensures that the vehicle only moves in the direction you point it. TTI has fewer parts than competitive designs and significantly decreases tire wear.

Rear net

The addition of rear net expands upon the Commander 1000 LIMITED’s exclusive looks. The rear net acts an open-air cover for the rear of the ROPS-approved cage and featured the Can-Am logo.

Visco-Lok† auto-locking differential

Visco-Lok automatically and progressively engages the front wheels for authentic 4x4 traction without the push of a button. The industry’s only progressive auto-locking front differential that engages all wheels at any speed. It constantly monitors front wheel speed, and if it detects one wheel spinning faster than its mate, it progressively sends more power to the wheel with better traction. All without the driver having to push buttons or pull levers.

14-in. cast-aluminum wheels with “LIMITED” finish

Industry's first cargo box with two levels separated by a removable, water-resistant panel. It offers the possibility to have an upper and a lower bed with their independent tailgate. Carrying capacity of the box is 13.1 cu ft /372 l of total volume and 600 lb. The tilt-assist dump-bed can be easily activated from both sides. Redesigned air box
The new air box was reconfigured and placed at a higher and more centralized location for filtering and processing air. The no-tools air box features a dual-room design that improves the air filtration process and the quality of air by capturing dirty air in one portion of the box and clean air in another section before it sends the air to the engine. Along with the relocated air box the air intake is also higher in the frame to improve the machine's capabilities in the mud and water.

Digitally Encoded Security System (D.E.S.S.™)
Outlander models feature the exclusive D.E.S.S.™ anti-theft system. The ATV will not start unless a coded microchip in the key matches a code embedded in the engine control module. It means only you can start your vehicle.

Center skid plate
The high-strength skid plate is made from proven materials and is designed for supreme protection and has the ability to slide over certain obstacles. Made of 5-mm thick injection-molded high-density polyethylene (HDPE).

The Outlander offers a sizeable, 1,300-pound towing capacity and a new 2-in. receiver hitch as standard equipment.

Easy access for maintenance
Can-Am engineers succeeded at producing a more maintenance-friendly setup. The battery was relocated beneath the seat to offer easier access and improved protection. The rear brake fluid reservoir, solenoid starter and relays were also placed under the seat.

Multi-function racks with LinQ quick-attach accessory system
The Outlander ATVs have redesigned cargo racks offering more convenience, greater durability, improved versatility and industry-leading cargo hauling prowess. High-strength, reinforced composite racks replace the tubular steel setup. The innovative racks feature an integrated anti-skid surface and elevated ridges for improved cargo holding. Numerous edges and holes improve use with tie-downs and bungee cords. Additional predetermined "cutouts" were also added for use with Can-Am's exclusive LinQ accessory system, which is adaptable and customizable for various uses and products. LinQ accessories are already available from Can-Am dealers. Combined rack capacity is 300-lb (100-lb front / 200-lb rear).

The Tri-Mode DPS™ features three rider-selectable modes (MIN, MED and MAX) of steering depending on rider preference. The system is designed to offer less assist at high speed and more assist at low speed. This technology also includes a Direct Link setup that uses advanced magnetic field sensors for faster response to steering input than competitive technology, which then minimizes steering lag. Less kickback and more trail feedback is supplied to the operator because of the 50:1 final gear ratio, which is the largest in the industry. A high-capacity 50-amp motor means the DPS™ will never fade with heavy use and all DPS™-equipped models also come with the Visco-Lok† QE.

The Outlander 650 XT model includes 12-inch cast-aluminium wheels, Tri-Mode Dynamic Power Steering (DPS) with Visco-Lok QE and a powerful 3000 pounds (1361 kg) Warn‡ winch.

Using principles of design we call Geometric Contact Control, BRP engineers designed the Surrounding Spar Technology chassis to be able to deliver the performance Can-Am brand is known for, yet enhance the overall comfort of the vehicle at all levels of riding.

The new air box was reconfigured and placed at a higher and more centralized location for filtering and processing air. The no-tools air box features a dual-room design that improves the air filtration process and the quality of air by capturing dirty air in one portion of the box and clean air in another section before it sends the air to the engine. Along with the relocated air box the air intake is also higher in the frame to improve the machine's capabilities in the mud and water.

A huge 5.7-gallon (21.4L) rear storage box offers industry-leading cargo capacity and is located beneath the rear cargo rack. The more convenient location means riders can access the water-resistant, sealed storage box even when the rear cargo rack is loaded.

The Outlander ATVs have redesigned cargo racks offering more convenience, greater durability, improved versatility and industry-leading cargo hauling prowess. High-strength, reinforced composite racks replace the tubular steel setup. The innovative racks feature an integrated anti-skid surface and elevated ridges for improved cargo holding. Numerous edges and holes improve use with tie-downs and bungee cords. Tri-mode Dynamic Power Steering (DPS™)
The Tri-Mode DPS™ features three rider-selectable modes (MIN, MED and MAX) of steering depending on rider preference. The system is designed to offer less assist at high speed and more assist at low speed. This technology also includes a Direct Link setup that uses advanced magnetic field sensors for faster response to steering input than competitive technology, which then minimizes steering lag. Less kickback and more trail feedback is supplied to the operator because of the 50:1 final gear ratio, which is the largest in the industry. A high-capacity 50-amp motor means the DPS™ will never fade with heavy use and all DPS™-equipped models also come with the Visco-Lok† QE.
