2013 Yamaha Grizzly 550 FI Auto 4x4 EPS LE Review

At the heart of the Grizzly 550FI EPS, you'll find a powerful 558cc, four-stroke engine with fuel injection that delivers plenty of power, and makes cold starting a breeze.

The long-travel four-wheel independent suspension serves up awesome ground clearance to get up over and around the gnarliest terrain. While the bush button On-Command system will have you in complete control, simply select the 2WD, limited-slip 4WD or Diff-Lock 4WD to suit the terrain. Yamaha's Electric Power Steering, Ultramatic Transmission and disc brakes at every wheel round out this awesome middleweight ATV, without breaking the bank.

2013 Yamaha Grizzly 550 FI Auto 4x4 EPS LE Features and Benefits:

The 558cc of fuel-injected, four-stroke power make this one of the most powerful middleweight ATVs on the market. Fuel injection delivers crisp throttle response and adjusts automatically to match temperature and elevation changes.

- Electronic Power Steering
EPS dramatically reduces steering effort, especially in 4WD. It helps isolate the rider from external forces acting on the front wheels, which means you can worry less about the terrain and focus more on enjoying the ride. This speed and torque sensitive EPS system could be the single most important improvement to your off road experience in decades!

• Reduces steering effort in all situations, helping to reduce rider fatigue while enhancing rider confidence and ease of operation
• Variable assist is speed and torque sensitive
• Improves stability on virtually all types of terrain at a wide range of speeds
• Helps isolate the rider from external feedback from obstacles that come in contact with the front wheels

- On Command 4WD System
Push-button servo-controlled On-Command system enables you to switch between 2WD, limited-slip 4WD and fully locked differential 4WD - all with the simple push of a dash mounted button. Real 4WD when you need it. With Diff-lock engaged, you have traction to all 4 wheels, immediately. You decide when you need 4WD, the machine doesn't decide for you.

- Ultramatic Transmission
The fully automatic Ultramatic™ transmission is not only versatile and easy to use, it is also known to be one of the most reliable. This transmission is designed to maintain constant belt tension, meaning it does not have to slip for the ATV to come to a stop. This dramatically improves belt reliability and durability. It also provides continuous and predictable off-throttle engine braking, which can really help when negotiating difficult terrain. The Kodiak 450 also comes with an automotive style transmission lever with a parking lock mechanism, so you don't have to worry about setting a separate parking brake every time you get off the ATV.

- 4-Wheel Disc Brakes
4-wheel disc brakes combined with full-time engine braking means slowing this Grizzly down requires less effort. And since the front and rear brakes can be operated independently, you have more control over how you brake depending on the situation.

- Mass Centralization
The weight of a full tank of fuel can throw off your centre of gravity, so we located the tank under the seat and positioned the air box up high. This lowers the centre of gravity improving handling, stability and hill climbing capability. The raised air box also reduces the chance of water and debris from getting into the engine.

- V-Belt Ducting
High mounted air box, V-belt intake and exhaust ducts, reduce the opportunity for water and debris to enter the V-Belt housing.

- Reverse Mounted Rear Suspension
The wheel center does not change but allows for a shorter frame which improves approach/departure angles, and allows the use of stronger ball joints (more clearance).
