2012 Polaris Sportsman Touring 500 HO Review

Sportsman® Touring 500 H.O. - Most Comfortable 2-Up Value ATV

The 2012 Sportsman® Touring 500 H.O. is the 2-Up version of the best-selling automatic 4x4 of all time. It has a longer wheelbase, plush passenger seat and a long list of standard features, making it the most comfortable 2-Up value ATV.

Highlights
- NEW Larger integrated front storage
- IRS shocks are angled rearward for a smooth 2-up ride.
- On-Demand True AWD maximizes traction.
- Engine Braking System for smooth, controlled descents.
- 50W Halogen - Handlebar mounted high beam light

Key Features:

NEW! INTEGRATED FRONT STORAGE
The most integrated storage of any ATV. The 6.5 gallon capacity lets you stow-away loads of gear and still have access to it, even with items tied to the deck.

ON-DEMAND TRUE ALL WHEEL DRIVE
Still the best automatic 4x4 system out there, the AWD engages all four tires when the rear wheels slip and you need more forward traction. Reverts back to 2WD when you don't.

PROVEN POWERPLANT AND CHASSIS
We took our Sportsman 500 H.O.-the best-selling automatic 4x4 ATV of all time-and gave it a longer wheelbase and a plush passenger seat to create a value-packed, 2-up touring machine.

RAISED RADIATOR PLACEMENT
Radiator is mounted 3" higher in the chassis an angled rearward to keep it out of mud and you on the trail longer.

AGGRESSIVE DESIGN WITH LOCK & RIDE
An aggressive looking body style gives the Sportsman an intimidating look and enhanced sight lines for the driver. The Lock & Ride composite front rack system and matching rear rack make it easy to carry gear.

PASSENGER SEAT COMFORT
The ultra-comfortable seat and backrest are fully padded and contoured for full support, with a slightly raised position so you can see down the trail.

ROLLED INDEPENDENT REAR SUSPENSION (IRS)
Starting with 8.75" of suspension travel, our proven Rolled IRS is angled rearward to keep the ride smooth for you and your passenger and reduce squat while accelerating.

ENGINE BRAKING SYSTEM (EBS)
Works to monitor and control downhill braking to give you optimum control and smooth, even deceleration during descents.
