So whether you’re hammering along a rocky, bumpy desert two-track or hightailing it on a narrow, bumpy trail in the woods, the Sport makes short work of the nasty terrain so drivers can focus on the fun.

It all starts with the Teryx Sport’s smooth and powerful fuel-injected V-twin engine and sport-tuned chassis, a technology package that launched the model to the top of the sport-oriented Recreational Utility Vehicle heap when it first appeared. Upgraded last year in several ways, including new front-end styling, a forward-tilting hood, improved engine cooling, an even sturdier tilting bed out back and a host of detail improvements, the Teryx Sport is sure to remain a favorite.

Durable and reliable power is the name of the RUV game, and nobody can touch the Teryx Sport’s 749cc 90-degree eight-valve V-twin. This engine is not only plenty powerful, its also supremely smooth thanks to the 90-degree configuration’s perfect primary balance. This design offers unmatched smoothness at any rpm - and a great exhaust note that sets the Teryx apart from lesser RUVs. Cooling system mods made last year – a larger cooling fan for more airflow and a larger diameter hose for more coolant flow – make the engine even more reliable.

The Teryx’s high-end suspension units are easy to appreciate even when you’re not moving. The aluminum-bodied gas-charged piggyback-reservoir shocks are fully adjustable for spring preload, compression damping and rebound damping for maximum tunability and control of its lightweight aluminum wheels. Each wheel is a whopping 2 pounds lighter a standard Teryx wheel, and this 8-pound difference in unsprung weight is easy to feel at speed.

The Teryx Sport’s advanced digital fuel-injection system includes functions for automatic elevation compensation, automatic idle adjustment and easy, choke-free starting via a sophisticated array of sensors for inlet air pressure, throttle position, crankshaft position, rpm, water temperature and a vehicle down sensor. There’s also an ignition cut-out, which won’t allow the Teryx Sport to be ridden away when the parking brake is engaged. This braking system technology complements the Teryx’s CVT Belt Protection System, which, among other good things, automatically retards ignition timing if the system detects engine operation at high rpm for more than two seconds while the rear wheels are motionless (i.e., the belt is slipping), and warns the rider via a flashing belt warning lamp on the dash.

All that electronically enhanced performance is perfectly packaged within an advanced chassis that’s narrow enough to navigate the gnarliest trails (and fit in a standard pickup bed), yet wide enough to offer a roomy cab and an excellent ride. The wide-track design frame uses large-diameter, thin-walled tubing to combine tremendous rigidity with light weight. And the upper frame adds great looks and protection, while providing enough room inside to fit two full-sized adults in a comfortable but supportive pair of bucket seats with retractable three-point seat belts.

Once comfortably strapped in, the rider can choose two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive with the flip of a switch, and Kawasaki’s super-efficient continuously variable transmission takes it from there, to practically anywhere you feel like going. A cockpit-adjustable variable front differential control even lets you fine tune front-end traction.

Long-travel independent suspension, those fully adjustable gas-charged shocks at all four corners, a rear stabilizer bar and mid-ship engine placement all work together to tame tough trails, while a high-performance long A-arm double-wishbone suspension design reduces camber changes for sharp steering at all times. When it’s time to slow down, dual discs up front and a high-tech sealed oil-bath braking unit out back get the job done with power to spare, while Kawasaki Engine Braking Control uses clever electronics to assist with engine braking when driving down hills. Digital Fuel Injection, Digital Instrument Panel and Tilting Bed Highlight Changes

A wide-body chassis, big V-twin power and an efficient CVT hallmark Kawasaki’s impressive line of Teryx™ recreation utility vehicles. For 2009, the original Kawasaki Teryx 750 4x4 takes the next evolutionary step with the addition of digital fuel injection and a host of upgraded features.

Superior ground clearance, impressive cargo capacity, and sport handling made the original Teryx one of the most talked-about RUVs on the planet. The addition of a new digital fuel-injection (DFI) system to its mid-mounted 749cc 90-degree V-twin engine adds even more performance and utility to the Teryx, giving it a clear edge over its rivals.

The enhanced response provided by the Teryx’s new digital fuel injection system means its strong and proven V-twin engine is quicker-revving than ever. Kawasaki engineers kept much of the engine’s likeable character when they added DFI, but still found ways to improve it – such as changing the ignition timing to boost low and mid range torque and improve response at higher rpm. Other inherent benefits gained from adding DFI include automatic altitude compensation, automatic idle adjustment and easy, choke-free starting.

The fuel injection system’s sophisticated array of sensors includes an inlet air pressure, throttle position, crankshaft position, rpm, water temperature and a vehicle down sensor. As part of the DFI upgrade, the Teryx also received a new fuel tank with an internal fuel pump.

Mated to the engine is Kawasaki’s superb continuously variable transmission (CVT), which transfers the smooth power and quick response from the big V-twin to the wheels smoothly and quickly. The healthy output of this powertrain provides true sport performance, in a controlled manner that allows the driver to harness the full potential of this impressive vehicle. The CVT also received refinements for 2009. Both the intake and exhaust cooling ducts were revised to better prevent water or mud from entering the drive belt area. The new intake duct flows air to the CVT more effectively for better cooling while the intake air temperature is reduced via heat shielding on the exhaust pipe located below the intake duct.

Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) data was added to the CVT Belt Protection System’s sensor inputs. Other inputs include a gear sensor (not in neutral), vehicle speed (measured from the rear wheel), and engine speed. The extra input permits the system to better prevent tire freewheel and offer upgraded rock section performance with less belt overloading. Should the system detect engine operation at high rpm for more than two seconds while the rear wheels remain motionless (i.e. rear wheels are immobilized and the belt is slipping), it automatically retards ignition timing and warns the rider via a flashing belt warning lamp.

Power is nothing without control — big power demands a chassis to compliment it and once again the Teryx delivers with an ideal body width that is narrow enough to be useful and able to navigate most trails, yet wide enough to offer a roomy cab and additional stability. The wide track Teryx 750 FI 4x4 design exploits a large-diameter, thin-walled tubular frame offering the necessary rigidity without performance draining weight. It also meets SAE regulations as a roll-over protective structure (ROPS) with an arrangement spacious enough to comfortably fit two full-sized adults.

The Teryx 750 FI 4x4 shares the long A-arm and narrow frame concept of its sport ATV brethren to give it the maximum travel while minimizing wheel camber change. For 2009, the adjustable Kayaba gas-charged shocks have revised settings combined with a new stabilizer bar to improve ride quality. Combined with the mid-ship engine, the balanced package offers superb control and cornering performance, even at top speed.

When the terrain requires it, the driver can activate 4WD with a simple servo-control switch. Further traction management is achieved via an ATV-style front differential control activated with a hand lever that lets the driver select how much the wheels are locked together. The rear wheels stay locked and always turn together — much like a sport ATV — allowing the Teryx to slide around corners “drift” style.

It continues its dominance in the field with 26-inch Maxxis tires developed specifically for the Teryx 750 FI 4x4 that enable superb forward and sliding traction. The tall tires offer good rough terrain handling and contribute to its class leading ground clearance and ability to overcome obstacles.

A powerful RUV wouldn’t be much fun without equally capable stopping power and Teryx 750 FI 4x4 delivers. It employs a combination of dual 200mm discs up front and a sealed wet brake in the rear. The front brakes are tucked into the wheels for protection from debris and their 27mm twin-piston calipers are rigid-mounted for optimum feel and control. The advantage of the sealed rear brake is most apparent when it’s able to keep working even in the wettest or muddiest of environments. Its compact profile further adds to the remarkable amount of ground clearance.

Of course, this substantial performance is matched by Kawasaki’s legendary durability and reliability that starts on the surface - tough scratch resistant Thermo-Plastic Olefin (TPO) bodywork, that is. Standard skid plates help shield the Teryx’s engine and undercarriage from ride stopping obstacles.

Inside, bucket seats and retractable three-point seat belts help the driver and passenger stay relaxed; the Teryx 750 FI 4x4 has plenty of shoulder and leg room to provide a comfortable driving environment. Standard equipment on all Teryx models, the new multi-function digital meter adds a fuel gauge and parking brake indicator to the standard hour meter, clock, odometer, dual trip meters and warning lights.

However, the Teryx 750 FI 4x4 isn’t all play and no work. Its standard 500-pound cargo capacity and gas-assisted tilting cargo bed are ideal for recreational users, yet versatile enough for work and hauling. A cargo net and tie down hooks in all four corners keep the goods secure. Its 1,300-pound towing capacity expands those cargo abilities further.

When the sun drops the action doesn’t have to stop thanks to dual 40W headlights showing the way and dual rear taillights letting it be seen. A 7.4-gallon fuel tank allows the Teryx to operate longer so the journey isn’t cut short either. With such a cargo-carrying and transportability potential, it is an able partner for leisure/recreation activities, such as camping, hunting or day trips.

Hondamatic Automatic Transmission
- The Hondamatic transmission utilizes variable hydraulic pressure and mechanical torque amplification to provide seamless job-handling power and excellent acceleration. Engine power drives a hydraulic pump. The pump, in turn, drives a hydraulic motor with variable fluid capacity. Utilizing pump and motor pistons and a variable-pitch motor-side swash plate, hydraulic capacity and pressure are varied, producing continuously variable output speed. In addition, torque is increased as output-shaft speed is reduced.

• This ATV is designed to make race prep easy. Body panels come off easily for service; there's no need to remove the battery or other components to get the fenders off. The aluminum frame is bolted together, rather than welded, for maximum durability. And the oil tank is integrated with the crankcase so it's easier to service the engine.

Engine:
• The fuel-injected 449cc engine has superb power characteristics. Power delivery is smooth and strong off the line with lots of low and mid range where you need it.
• The crankcase holds a crankshaft that's ready to handle the increased balance ratio, as well as a counterbalancer for superior vibration control. The crankcase also houses the oil tank, which helps to centralize mass for unmatched handling and makes maintenance easier.
• Camshafts are designed to maximize the torque available in the low and mid ranges.
• Fuel injection uses a 12-hole injector that provides exceptional atomization of the fuel for maximum combustion efficiency and power delivery. The system also uses a big, 42mm Mikuni® throttle body and includes ISC (Idle Speed Control) for easy, reliable start-up and warming.

Chassis/Suspension:
• The chassis is very spacious, allowing room for even an aggressive racer to move around, and the ATV's body panels that the rider contacts during operation are of a special, softer plastic material for greater comfort. The seat is narrow in the front, yet wide and padded in the rear to provide a more comfortable ride, even when hanging off on the side of the seat in a turn.
• ProTaper® handlebars are mounted on 4-way clamps for exceptional adjustability. There are two sets of holes in the handlebar crown, and eccentric clamps so the rider can choose the standard setting, 10mm or 20mm forward, or 10mm back.
• The wheel has been redesigned, with the inner lip rolled in. This increases the rigidity, allowing a reduction in weight while maintaining strength.
• Foot pegs are a generous 2.6 inches wide, something riders will appreciate every time they want to get up on the pegs, with good kick-up on the ends for solid footing.
• The frame is aluminum for lightweight, except for the frame member under the engine. Here tensioned steel is used for its combination of strength and thinness. This allowed the designers to sit the engine lower overall for excellent mass centralization for unmatched handling. The frame is bolted together, rather than welded, for maximum durability.
• The front frame is noticeably narrow at the A-arm mounting points. This dramatically reduces changes in camber as the long A-arms travel through their full range of motion. The front 44mm KYB® shocks have Kashima coating for smooth operation with superb bump absorption and excellent anti-bottoming characteristics. The 9.4 inches of wheel travel means this racer is up to even the most challenging tracks.
• The rear swingarm is crafted of strong, gravity-fed aluminum, and it's matched to a fully adjustable 46mm KYB® piggyback shock absorber for excellent handling. Rear wheel travel is 11.0 inches for comfort even on tough terrain.
• For excellent stopping ability, YFZ450X features dual front hydraulic disc brakes and a trick looking, lightweight wave-type rear rotor.

Additional Features:
• The throttle lever requires low effort, and it's very comfortable to use. That means less fatigue during all-day riding.
• The instrumentation is all business. The discrete panel on the fender in front of the rider gives vital indicators about low fuel, coolant temperature, check engine, and neutral gear via a straightforward LED display.

If you think the industry’s leading V-twin powered Recreation Utility Vehicle (RUV) should pack a handful of cool extras as standard equipment, you’d be right – and you’d be talking about Kawasaki’s Teryx™ 750 FI 4x4 LE. What sets the upscale LE apart from our other class-leading RUVs are its luxury touches, which include a cab roof, deflector windshield, a retractable cup holder and high quality, automotive-style paintwork.

The original Teryx 750 FI 4x4 LE bested the competition immediately after its introduction a few years ago, scoring big with journalists and buyers all over America. Over the years it’s been continually refined, receiving digital fuel injection and a host of other upgrades in 2009, and an aggressive new front end with a hinged, forward-tilting hood, easier maintenance, a better cooling system, a sturdier tilting bed and several other improvements for added vehicle durability in 2010.

For 2011 things are status quo, which makes sense for an RUV with this much performance, function and durability. And heck, why mess with a great thing?

Power is key when it comes to a performance RUV like the Teryx LE, and when it comes to power, no other RUV can touch this one’s 749cc 90-degree eight-valve V-twin. Not only is this engine plenty powerful down low and higher in its rev range, its 90-degree configuration gives it perfect primary balance for unmatched smoothness at any rpm - and a great exhaust note that sets the Teryx LE apart from lesser RUVs.

Feeding that impressive engine its cocktail of fuel and air is the Teryx LE’s advanced digital fuel-injection system. The system offers automatic elevation compensation, automatic idle adjustment and easy, choke-free starting via a sophisticated array of sensors for inlet air pressure, throttle position, crankshaft position, rpm, water temperature and a vehicle down sensor. There’s also an ignition cut-out feature that won’t allow the Teryx LE to be ridden away when the parking brake is engaged. That new braking system technology complements the Teryx LE’s CVT Belt Protection System, which automatically retards ignition timing if the system detects engine operation at high rpm for more than two seconds while the rear wheels are motionless (i.e., the belt is slipping) and warns the rider via a flashing belt warning lamp on the dash.

All that electronically enhanced performance is packaged in an advanced chassis narrow enough to navigate most trails (and fit in a standard pickup bed), yet wide enough to offer a roomy cab and a great ride. The wide-track frame uses large-diameter, thin-walled tubing to combine tremendous rigidity with light weight. And the upper frame combines cool style and protection with enough room inside to fit two full-sized adults in a comfortable but supportive pair of bucket seats with retractable three-point seat belts.

Once comfortably buckled in, the rider can choose two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive with the flip of a switch, and Kawasaki’s super-efficient continuously variable transmission takes it from there, taking you practically anywhere you feel like going. A cockpit-adjustable variable front differential control even lets you fine tune front-end traction. And while you’re doing all that, the LE’s half windshield and cab top shield you from the elements, while its retractable cup holders make it easy to grab a refreshing drink on the go.

Long-travel four-wheel independent suspension, adjustable Kayaba gas-charged shocks at all four corners, a rear stabilizer bar and mid-ship engine placement all work together to tame tough trails, while a high-performance long A-arm double-wishbone suspension design that reduces camber changes offers sharp steering at all times. When it’s time to slow down, dual discs up front and a high-tech sealed oil-bath brake system in back get the job done with power to spare, while Kawasaki Engine Braking Control uses clever electronics to assist with engine braking while driving down hills. Specially designed 26-inch Maxxis tires custom-built for the Teryx LE’s design characteristics are the final ingredient in its amazingly potent handling package.

This unique versatility has popularized Kawasaki’s entry-level utility model while simplifying the transport of the Mule 600 with its ability to fit in the back of a full-size pickup truck.

The Mule 600 features a single-cylinder engine mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT), a dual-mode rear differential, independent front suspension, unit swing-axle rear suspension and hydraulic brakes.

A spacious cab with curved body panels and a large-diameter steel tube frame structure—that meets ROPS requirements—presents a clean, modern look, with automotive-type controls and a gear selector within easy reach on the dashboard. Comfort features include two large cup holders, a passenger-side glove box and grab handle, and more storage space located beneath the hood.

As is the case for many utility vehicle owners, the engine is one of the enticing features of the Mule 600. The durable air-cooled, single-cylinder 401cc four-stroke engine utilizes a cooling fan to help maintain an ideal operating temperature. In this new 2009 model, the flap in the rear left tire housing was widened slightly to minimize mud entering the engine area.

Equally important, the engine starts easily thanks to an enrichening system that partially opens the throttle during ignition and can be started in forward or reverse gear, provided the brakes are applied.

Kawasaki’s Mule 600 transfers its power to the ground through a CVT, equipped with durable materials and a long-lasting drive belt. This unit utilizes a dependable, low-maintenance shaft drive and a dual-mode differential, which can be locked to maximize traction on adverse terrain.

The Mule 600 rides on a MacPherson strut suspension up front, and unit swing-axle handles the rear suspension duties. Large 22-inch tires enhance the ride quality further and sealed, hydraulic drum brakes at all four wheels provide ample stopping power.

Increasing its work versatility are bright 35w headlights and the 400-pound capable tilting cargo bed, which features tailgate latches that are easy to fasten quickly and securely. The Mule 600 can tow up to 1,100 pounds with an optional Kawasaki draw bar. Popular accessories include an enclosed cab, snow plow, winch, and soft or hard tops.
